What is Glazier Insurance?

Glass is a doubly risky material to work with, liable to cause injury and famously fragile. You need your double glazing fitter’s insurance to cover your business appropriately, including breaking glass, or even just chipping  panes.

What to consider

Public liability insurance looms large for glaziers, because all kinds of mishaps are a real and ever-present danger – from severe cuts caused by broken glass to trips and falls over tools while work is in progress. Insurance for your expensive tools and probably even more expensive stock is also advisable. Remember, a tiny chip could lead to a big loss.

Plant and machinery insurance are also recommended: you may need to hire a cherry picker from time to time so you need the adequate cover against the danger of damaging such a valuable piece of equipment while using it should be considered. In most cases employers’ liability insurance is an obligation for staff you employ, even on a casual basis, and bearing in mind the risks associated with glass, personal accident insurance is something we feel no glazier should be without.

What your glazier’s insurance can include

  • Public liability insurance
  • Tool insurance
  • Stock insurance
  • Plant and machinery insurance
  • Employers’ liability insurance
  • Goods in Transit cover
  • Office premises cover
  • Business interruption cover for manufacturers
  • Personal accident insurance
