Citroen dealership sends business elsewhere following arson attack

Some 40 firefighters were called to tackle a massive blaze at a Robins and Day Citroen showroom and garage in Small Heath, Birmingham.

An arson attack was thought to be behind the blaze, which caused some £100,000 worth of damage to the premises and vehicles. A man has now been arrested on suspicion of arson. The attack took place on the evening of 16 January.

In total, some seven vehicles positioned in the showroom were damaged, while others in the workshop were also harmed in the fire, alongside the premises themselves.

Protecting your dealership or garage from this kind of attack is essential and a large part of this is taking out comprehensive dealership insurance and/or service and repair garages insurance. Providing you are covered financially for the costs involved, you will be able to get back to business as soon as possible following a fire or flood, losing less business and providing a better standard of customer service and business continuity for your clients.

The day after the fire, a spokesperson for the local fire brigade told press: “We were alerted by fire service colleagues at 9.10pm last night to a fire at the Citroen car dealership in Small Heath Highway.

“One lane of the highway remains closed while fire investigators and forensic examiners assess the scene.

“A 33-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested on suspicion of arson.”

The Digbeth and Redditch Citroen dealerships are taking on the Small Heath dealership's customers while the repairs are being undertaken.
