American carmaker Ford has claimed the top two places in a Car Dealer Magazine survey of UK motor traders.
The ever-popular Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta were rated as the UK car dealers’ favourite vehicles to sell, according to a recent poll carried out to celebrate the centenary issue of Car Dealer Magazine. In third place on the list of 100 favourite showroom cars was Volkswagen’s Golf.
Dealerships looking to add more popular cars such as the Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta or Volkswagen Golf to their showrooms and forecourts need to make sure they update their motor trade insurance and road risks insurance to include the new models. And as test drives are sure to be popular, car dealers must ensure they have adequate demonstration cover too.
Kevin Griffin, Ford of Britain sales director for Ford of Britain, said of the recent survey results: “The Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta broke the medium and small car moulds when they were launched 18 and 40 years ago respectively.
“Both have been the UK’s best-selling car, with the Ford Fiesta at number one for its 40th celebrations this year. Whether being sold new or used, the Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta have a huge following — not least among the dealer body delivering hundreds of thousands of them to new owners every year.”
Elsewhere on the list, which was compiled after 1,000 UK car dealers were surveyed, German manufacturers BMW and Audi had nine cars and eight cars respectively in the top 100. Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Nissan each registered six cars.
