Marriott Motor Group returning to 106-year-old site

The Marriott Motor Group will be returning to its original 106-year-old site, where the Stowmarket family firm was first founded, in June 2016, reports AM Online.

Marriott Motor Group franchise Barnards will be opening a fully renovated Volkswagen showroom on the same Station Road site on which founder Oliver Barnard founded the group. And to mark the historic event and to look towards the future, Volkswagen will be displaying its latest concept car, the XL1 (pictured).

With the new car sector booming, you may also be thinking of expanding your business or adding to the volume of stock you hold. If so, you must ensure that you have the right levels of insurance to cover your vehicles by having a good motor trade insurance policy and road risks insurance.

The Marriott Motor Group has come a long way since its humble origins in Stowmarket, from where it sold Ford’s iconic Model T back in 1921 and built its own bus bodies by 1931. The ultra-modern business now employs around 500 staff throughout its 12-dealership portfolio in the North East.

Paul Barnard, great grandson of original founder Oliver and current managing director of Marriott Motor Group, said: “Though much has changed over the years for the building, one thing has remained the same — we run our firm and build our business on creating personal relationships with our customers.”

Trevor Pajak, the brand manager at Barnards Stowmarket, added: “The new site will enable Barnards to fully meet the needs of our expanding business and continue to deliver our excellent service to valued local customers.”
