The Steven Eagell dealership group has taken over two sites from the Marshall Motor Group in East Anglia.
Toyota franchises in King’s Lynn in Norfolk and Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, are now part of the Steven Eagell business. The group now operates 10 Toyota outlets and is the biggest independent Toyota dealer in the UK, with other showrooms in Bedford, Aylesbury, Watford, St Albans, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Luton and Letchworth.
If you are expanding your business, whether by taking on new sites or simply adding to the volume of stock you hold, make sure you have the right levels of insurance to cover your enterprise. You should have both a good motor trade insurance policy and road risks insurance adequate to your needs.
Steven Eagell will be recruiting staff for the new dealerships next month at the Peterborough site, where it is looking for personnel from sales and servicing to workshop and driving roles. The company employed almost 260 people at the end of last year.
Meanwhile, the Marshall Motor Group last week reported record results for 2015, when it announced a 13.5 per cent increase in revenues to £1.23 billion and a 21.4 per cent jump in pre-tax profits to £15.8 million, AM-Online reported.
Chief executive Daksh Gupta said: “Our numbers were very strong.”
The expanding company is benefiting from the current strong market and despite the sales of the Peterborough and King’s Lynn Toyota franchises, it is continuing to grow. In November last year, it bought the SG Smith group for £24.4 million.
The new acquisition gave Marshall a strong presence in the Audi market, which is one of its key franchise partners. It also means the group now has more outlets in London and the South East, adding dealerships in Bexley, Beckenham, Croydon, Coulsdon and Wimbledon to the brand.
