Servicing and repairs online comparison site reports rising interest

A website set up to allow customers to find the best deal on servicing, repairs and MOTs in their area has seen a huge uptake in its services in the last 12 months.

MyCarNeedsA.com has signed up more than 4,000 garages and workshops across the UK, which it has checked and authorised to provide quotes via the website. They all use genuine parts and service book stamps with manufacturer warranty protection.

Signing up to online services like this can be a good way to promote your business and bring in more trade. However, there is plenty you can do on your own and word of mouth will always be an essential route to attracting new trade. Making sure you have a great reputation is key, as is ensuring you have the right insurance policies if things go wrong, so a good road risks policy is important alongside your motor trade insurance policy.

MyCarNeedsA.com reported an 84 per cent rise in servicing and MOTs carried out via members on the site over the last 12 months. It also saw its number of unique visitors to the site rise by three-quarters.

Managing director, Scott Hamilton, told Car Dealermagazine: “More and more consumers are using websites like ours to save time, money and hassle when booking their cars in for maintenance and repair, whether it’s brakes, bulbs, clutches, cambelts or regular servicing.

“It is estimated that motorists spend a collective £21.1 billion a year on servicing and repair and the online comparison market is growing rapidly. There is a huge opportunity for MOT and servicing providers to boost their income by extending their reach online, by partnering with us.”
